Echosmile
Mobility laboratory in the city of the future
Echosmile is a Franco-Swiss collaborative project questioning the future of mobility. It approaches this question from the service angle, and not from the vehicle angle. It aims to participate in the development of a mobility service that makes sense for the city and its users, offering mobility on demand, based on a fleet of autonomous and shared vehicles.
Within the framework of this project, Archamps Technopole is presented as the place for the “pre-clinical” of autonomous, shared and on-demand mobility. It is the place where reflection, design, development, experimentation and evaluation must qualitatively add value to the mobility service.
The Archamps Technopole and Alps Design Lab / Design Station teams have joined forces, reinforced by a group of design students and students from related disciplines (Business, Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Humanities…).
For a week, in the open and supportive environment of Archamps Technopole, they were challenged to create scenarios for the benefit of a local ecosystem on the theme of a shared autonomous vehicle service.
Today, for many researchers and designers, the future of mobility does not lie with the individual vehicle, but with an ecosystem of shared autonomous electric vehicles.
Based on this observation, three topics and three timeframes have been explored,
• Territorial integration
This first theme focuses on the connection of the technology park with its urban and industrial environment.
• Service
This second global theme will attempt to define an on-demand mobility service that is applicable both in the short term to the current technology park and can be projected to future extensions and developments.
• Architecture
This third theme aimed to imagine how the architecture could adapt to new mobilities in a future extension.
After an intensive week and three scenarios, the proposal for a global ecosystem emerged.
As for all our workshops, a summary booklet was produced by Design Station and sent to the participants in digital form. This booklet was published as an insert in « L’Extension Diamant Alpin »
